The health and well being of all the horses at stud are our priority. Our terms and conditions are in place to protect your mare, your investment in her foal and the other horses here. We reserve the right to refuse entry to any mare or foal that we consider to be an unacceptable health risk.
Please note that it is stud policy to scan all mares on arrival at stud and after covering. If a mare leaves before being scanned it is assumed that she is in foal.
Vaccinations
All mares must be vaccinated for Equine Flu and Tetnus.
If any mare arriving at stud is found not to have a valid certificate then she will be placed in isolation and vaccinated as appropriate. Until she has been certified by our vet as covered by these vaccinations we will not be able to commence breeding/covering. Veterinary costs will be added to your invoice and extra livery charges may apply.
Passports
It is a legal requirement for all mares to travel and stay with thier passports. There will be kept at the stud for the duration of her time with us.
CEM Swab & EVA Testing
All mares must be CEM swabbed and EVA tested before the stud season commences to confirm they are fit for breeding. If you are unable to organise this prior to your mare arriving at stud then we can arrange this for you. Please see Stud Livery page for veterinary costs.
Farrier
Please ensure your mares back shoes are removed before she arrives at stud. We will arrange for her to shod/trimmed as necessary whilst she is at stud and the relevant cost added to your livery bill.
Worming
Mares (and foals) will be wormed on arrival at stud and a worm count taken. They will then be wormed at the appropriate intervals and the cost added to your livery bill
Vet Fees
Please refer to the Stud Livery page for more detail. We will require you to sign an authority to Bushy Equine Clinic for veterinary treatment to be carried out at the direction of SevernView Stud. Please pay your bills promptly.
NB we reserve the right to withhold the stallion covering certificate if all veterinary bills are not paid prior to the mare leaving the stud.
Insurance
Please ensure that your mare is suitably insured for her stay at stud. You will need to advise your insurance company of her destination before she arrives.
Stud Fees
All stud fees must be paid in full prior to the mares ARRIVAL at stud. This is applicable whether you are using our stallion or our AI services. Please send your mares nomination form to us along with the relevant fee.
NFFR (1st Oct Terms) - No Foal, Free Return - If your mare is barren by 1st October (a veterinary certificate must be sent) then your mare is entitled to a free return to the nominated stallion in the following season (i.e. no stud fee is payable - other costs will apply). This is non-transferable to other mares unless by prior agreement.
Mares whilst at stud will receive every possible care, attention and supervision. Mares are served at thier owners risk and no responsibility can be taken for accident, disease or injury/damage/loss caused through trying or covering a mare. We will refuse to cover any mare who is dangerously aggressive towards the stallion and we reserve the right to sedate any mare considered a danger to herself, the vet or handlers whilst in the stocks for scanning. Please ensure that your mare is suitably insured before she is delivered to the stud and that your insurers have benn advised of her whereabouts.
